Each spring, members of the U.S. House of Representatives sponsor the Congressional Art Competition to recognize the artistic talents of students in North Carolina’s 8thdistrict and throughout the nation. The winners are selected by an Arts Advisory Committee made up of artists from the district. The winners are announced at a reception by Congressman Richard Hudson. The winner will have the opportunity to visit Washington, D.C.  (Hudson.house.gov). The work will also be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol.

Congratulations to Jayden Harper, a senior at Westover High School and Deanna Glus, a junior at Massey High Classical High both students won first place in their district.
